Scaling of sidewalks, driveways and other exterior flatwork can be minimized. It is especially important that exposed concrete be sealed in our area of northern nevada which experiences severe cold weather. It is recommended that a concrete sealer be placed on the surface on a yearly maintenance program.
Driveways, carports and high traffic areas should be sealed every year. These surfaces are used 12 months out of the year and subject to plows, shovels, snow blowers and other objects. Sand should be the only material used to melt snow on the surface. Rock salt and dry ice should not be used- these melting materials will accelerate the wear on the sealer and can potentially damage the concrete surface.
Driving can carry harmful materials to your driveway by the salts falling off of the tires and underneath carriage of your automobile.
