Pervious concrete is a special type of concrete with a high porosity used for concrete flatwork applications that allows water from precipitation and other sources to pass directly through, thereby reducing the runoff from a site and allowing groundwater recharge. Typically pervious concrete has little or no fine aggregate and has just enough cementitious paste to coat the coarse aggregate particles while preserving the interconnectivity of the voids. Pervious concrete is traditionally used in parking areas, areas with light traffic, residential streets, pedestrian walkways, and greenhouses. It is an important application for sustainable construction and is one of many low impact development techniques used by builders to protect water quality. This product is eco-friendly for our environment.

On July 4th, 2009 Fernley Custom Concrete placed an entry/float in the local hometown parade. The theme was “We the People” and our line was “Thank God for our Country, Our Soldiers, our Veterans and the people of the City of Fernley for their support.” We all had a blast tossing out hats, water bottles and candy, and even the dogs joined in the fun for this event.

On a personal note, our daughter Fallon made it home from Iraq and now is stationed in Ft. Carson, CO and is working at the hospital on the base. Her husband Brad had to return to Iraq for an additional 6 to 8 months. Lil Ray left this week for Army basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. His training will be in the military police with plans for a future law enforcement career.
